i made a s'mores cake to celebrate john's birthday (mark's brother), which was the next day. a layer of chocolate cake covered in marshmallow frosting and crushed graham cracker. followed by another layer of chocolate cake, then chocolate frosting. i used this recipe for the marshmallow frosting, but i used less confectionary sugar and butter than suggested, because it was too sweet for my liking.
i also made floral arrangements for the table centerpiece. i wanted the arrangements to be rich in color, but have a contrast in textures. i paired soft blooms, like the peonies, with more rustic textures, the thistle and dried lavender.
i couldn't have asked for a better thanksgiving. kind hearts and delicious food.
